Measuring for your dress pattern

It is best if someone does this for you. Take the measurements over your normal clothing. Stand straight with your feet flat on the floor.

Bust size is the pattern size. To measure – with arms outstretched, place the tape around the back shoulder blades parallel to the floor. Bring tape around the bust. Lower your arms allowing the tape to expand. Round the measurement up to the nearest size. Example: Bust measures 42-1/2″ order Size 44.
Waist – Tie a string or 1/4″ elastic around your waist and bend from side to side to settle the elastic at your natural waist line. Measure around your waist, at the place the elastic falls, keeping the tape comfortably lose.
If bust size and waist size do not correspond with the chart below, you may need a custom pattern.
